Being Married to Me

In honor of our 21st anniversary today, I am presenting Nancy this list of great things about being married to me.

This list itself is so great, it probably ought to be on the list.  But I need to save something for next year.

10 Great Things About Being Married to Me

1. Steady supply of $3 DVDs from Big Lots, each one a classic like "Spies Like Us"

2. Yard plants trimmed by hacksaw

3. Helpful critiques on boiling pasta water

4. Vigorous discourse on talent level of Laura Linney

5. Broad exposure to boxing movies

6. Disciplined recycling, including paper sleeves from restaurant straws

7. Spicing up Jane Austen movies by randomly interjecting "Willoughby!  Willoughby!"

8. Translating closing hymn into Spanish with good volume

9. Flushing while still peeing to see "if I can time it right"

10. Daily diet of original song stylings.

As you can see, my love for her, which is pretty much boundless, is manifested in many special ways.  Love you, Nancy.

P.S.  It's a scientific fact. Just put a lid on the pot. It's faster. But first some salt. More.

Super Effort

Great game. Great success for Super Squares, netting over $2,800 for ALA. Thanks to all those who played for helping to support the fight against lung cancer.
Here's a photo of Eamon and his buddy Johnny watching the game. As the jerseys indicate, they were conflicted about which team to root against. One opted for the Pats as the lesser evil, the other for the Giants.

Giants 21, Patriots 17.....FINAL

A million thanks to everyone who played Super Squares and helped make it the most successful Squares fundraiser yet.

And the $250 winners for the fourth quarter payouts:
. Rashid
. Wise
. Jacobi
. J Bo.

And the coaches challenge earned a $10 blitz prize for Gail T.

Of course, the big winners are lung cancer victims assisted by the work of ALA, which this game supported. We will clear over $2,500 to help fight lung cancer. Thanks!

Kevin

Q3 In The Books

We've got a great game after three quarters and the Tynes FG makes winners of:

. Holcik
. Denny F
. MJ's neighbor at 1505
. Plowman.

And the INT makes a $10 blitz prize winner of.....Vivero.

Congrats and enjoy the rest of the game!

Q2 Results

Tom Brady's last-second TD puts $150 into the pockets of:

. Salvi
. Jim, SJ
. Roz
. Schmieg.

And a $10 blitz prize for the talking baby goes to.......Bob Sergent.

Pretty good ballgame!

First Quarter Winners!

Giants 9, Patriots 0. Congratulations to $150 winners:

. Tracy Buchko Kent
. Jim Cammarata
. Betsy Cammarata.

And a $10 blitz prize to Amiot for the safety.

GAME DAY!

There's still time to get some more Super Squares! The game is way more fun when you have a chance to win money. Here are the numbers for the Gogolak grid, which is still filling up. Spread the word! And thank you for helping the fight against lung cancer.
Details on how it works are below at the January 22 post. Or just email me at ksmithfagan@gmail.com. Thanks again!

Go Go Gogolak!

In honor of the Super Bowl teams, I have christened the new grid after the Gogolak brothers, Charlie and Pete. When I was a kid, Pete was the kicker for the Giants, Charlie for the Patriots. I realize it's not much of a thread but, hey, it's all I got.
It may not surprise you that good photos of the Gogolak brothers are not in abundant supply.
Want to buy squares? Read the January 22 post below for all the details. Thanks for helping to fight lung cancer and honor my mom through Super Squares.

Another Full Grid!

Thanks to all the players in the Roman Gabriel grid. Here it is! Good luck and thanks again for supporting the fight against lung cancer.

Next Up, Roman Gabriel!

The third grid in the Super Squares fundraiser - raising money to beat lung cancer - I've named in honor of somewhat-forgotten QB Roman Gabriel. My mom rooted for Roman Gabriel. That's good enough for me.
Now let's fill up the Roman Gabriel squares! Thank you for your generosity in fighting lung cancer and honoring mom's memory.
Read the January 22 post below to see how you can join the fun!

Gale Sayers Grid Complete!

We've filled the second grid in this year's Super Squares fundraiser, named in honor of Bears great Gale Sayers. Ah, the Kansas Comet. If you're in this grid, I hope you've got some lucky numbers! Enjoy.

2012 SUPER SQUARES FOR LUNG CANCER!

Please join me in fighting lung cancer, which claimed my mom's life in 2008, through the supremely fun "Super Squares" effort.

If you're new to Super Squares, it goes like this: you can win prize $$ depending on the Super Bowl score after each of the game's four quarters.

WHAT DOES IT COST?
To play, it's $20 for one square, three for $50, seven for $100. Free bonus square for using paypal when you participate at $50 and $100.

HOW DO YOU WIN MONEY?
Each square on the grid gives you ownership of a possible game score. Prizes are awarded at the end of every quarter. So at halftime if it's Patriots 27, Giants 16, the squareholder with Patriots 7 Giants 6 wins prize money.

Payouts are $150 for three quarters, and $250 for the final score. Your numbers will be generated at random. The grids will be posted here at the blog as they fill up. I use the website random.org to generate the numbers.

You get fresh numbers every quarter, too - so if your first quarter numbers are terrible (9,9), fear not because you get a fresh set for Q2 and Q3 and Q4. The grid shows it all.

No matter the score, you'll always have a chance to win with "blitz prizes" -- $10 awards that will be drawn on the spot when unusual events unfold during the game. We'll draw a winner when:

- there's an interception or a lost fumble, a two-point conversion, a missed extra point or a safety:
- a coach throws his "Challenge" flag;
- there's a new commercial featuring a talking baby (thank you, Betsy); or
- any other loopy thing we think up between now and gametime - suggestions welcome!

HOW DO YOU PAY?
Please use paypal if you can because it makes things so much easier. Players at $50 and $100 even get a FREE BONUS SQUARE by using paypal. If you pay by check, please write the check to American Lung Association and send it to me at 2513 Key West Way, Sacramento, CA, 95826.

When you log in to paypal, use the Send Money tab then select "Personal" and "Gift." That way paypal will not charge any fee on the transaction. Yay! The paypal destination email is ksmithfagan@gmail.com.

HOW DOES YOUR MONEY SUPPORT THE AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION?
Every penny from Super Squares goes to the cause (after paying the prize winners). My sisters Betsy and Kathy ride every year in ALA/Chicago's Bike Trek fundraiser as Team Barbie (mom's name). I deliver the Super Squares funds into the ride's donation portal.

Thanks for playing! And thank you for fighting lung cancer in my mom's memory.
